Anna grew up on the shores of Northern Germany and spent a high school year in Canada. She holds a master‘s degree in North American Studies, Business Administration and Communication Studies from Free University Berlin. For more than ten years she has been working in the communication and marketing business. Her last long term position was Product Marketing Manager in Trade Publishing for Ullstein Buchverlage, Berlin. Her responsibilities comprised the online and offline marketing for seven brands.
Professionally, Anna started out as Associate Producer for film production companies in Washington DC and Cape Town. Later she followed the journalistic path and interviewed amongst others the politicians Angela Merkel and Gregor Gysi for the German TV news agency Deutsche Fernsehnachrichten Agentur. Until she changed allegiance and started out as spin doctor at the PR-Agency WeberShandwick where she looked after clients such as Abbott, Bureau Veritas, ebay, Mastercard or Langnese. Afterwards she was engaged as publicist at the film PR agency aim. At aim she inter alia, designed communication campaigns as well as pr events, and organized opening nights for films by e.g. Quentin Tarantino, Sofia Coppola and Leander Haußmann. Three of the regular clients were Senator Film, Sony Pictures, and Disney.
Her next stop led her to Ullstein Buchverlage, one of Germany’s biggest publishing houses. At first she worked in the area of Corporate Publishing and was responsible for editorial as well as project management. During this time, renowned advertising agencies such as Scholz&Friends, DDB, Serviceplan, JungvonMatt, fischerAppelt, or companies such as Nike, CocaCola and Deutsche Telekom were among her business partners.
Then Anna was called to the marketing department at Ullstein. As Product Marketing Manager she was responsible for successful marketing campaigns and book launches such as the international best seller “Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body‘s Most Underrated Organ” by Giulia Enders with over one million copies sold in Germany, the best selling and acclaimed author Peter Scholl-Latour and for successful community marketing for Spiegel best seller “Journeyman” by Fabian Sixtus Körner. The ideas for those campaigns were mostly generated during the creativity workshops that Anna held at Ullstein. Moreover, she was part of the special task force that prepared market analyses and recommendations for action incl. business strategies regarding “discoverability and visibility in the world wide web” for the Ullstein executive board.
After almost seven years at Ullstein publishing house, Anna felt the need to take a break. Her goal was to spend more time by the sea, to have more time for her hobby kitesurfing and to go on a big long wished for adventure. She grabbed her big rucksack and travelled to Australia. With her head full of new ideas for her future she returned.
One of her best ideas was and still is to launch her agency hechthoch4. The name is a pun meaning hecht (her last name, the German word for pike) exponentiated by 4. The idea is that Anna brings together her three fields of competence editing, PR and marketing and combines them with the fourth element joy. (Not only work wise) Joy and enthusiasm are essential for Anna when developing and implementing projects hand in hand with a motivated and inspiring team.
